Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, the implementing organization of the VEGERA project met with the implementing partner organization, Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers on 5th October 2021.
The United Nations General Assembly declared February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. To celebrate this day "TIIAME" NRU organized the first International Online Forum "Three Generations of Scientists” on February 10, 2022. The goal of organizing the International Forum of Women in Science was to get to celebrate the achievements of women in the field of education and science in Uzbekistan and abroad and involve women and girls in research.
The hybrid Dialogue Event of VEGERA took place on the 19th of May in "TIIAME" NRU. Many relevant stakeholders came together to discuss the potentials of building energy-efficient house, what bio-local raw materials and what technologies can be used.
VEGERA project team under the lead of Niels Thevs (GIZ) and Kumar Aliev (ICRAF) has virtually taken part in the 5th World Congress on Agroforestry on July 17th-20th, 2022. The presentation on video format was presented on the topic of “Poplar based agroforestry as an economic source for renewable raw materials in irrigated agriculture in Central Asia”
On August 23rd and 24th 2022, “IV International Scientific Conference Construction Mechanics, Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineering– CONMECHYDRO 2022” hybrid conference took place “TIIAME” NRU in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. VEGERA project members took part in the conference, giving online presentations on various topics.
The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) is a union of the best minds working to find nature-based solutions for forest and tree landscapes. As one of the important partner of VEGERA project, CIFOR-ICRAF provided ranges of video links on agroforestry in India and Central Asia which are the relevant topics for this project.
On 6 January 2023, Prof. Dr. Martin Welp visited Tashkent, Uzbekistan to meet with the project partners "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers", National Research University ("TIIAME" NRU) in Uzbekistan. A meeting was organized at the "TIIAME" NRU where project activities were discussed. Bonu Azizova who works HNEE as a researches in the project joint the meeting.
From 13 – 20 February 2023, delegation from Uzbekistan visited Germany to take part in the workshop “Developing strategic collaboration paths in the energy-efficient construction sector” under VEGERA project. There, both project partners HNEE and "TIIAME" NRU and important stakeholders from Uzbekistan had a chance to have exchange of knowledge and fruitful discussions.
To celebrate International Women´s Day, a national dialogue dedicated to "The role of women in science", was held at "TIIAME" NRU on 2-3 March 2023. The goal of organizing the national dialogue of Women in Science was to celebrate the achievements of women in the field of education and science in Uzbekistan and abroad and involve women and girls in research. HNEE took part in the national dialogue where presenters talked about gender quality and representation of diversity as the core values of HNEE and project VEGERA.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan - Bonu Azizova, a researcher in the project VEGERA at the University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde (HNEE), has been conducting extensive research in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Over the course of several months, Ms. Azizova carried out around 10 site visits in the city of Tashkent and the surrounding region, working with local academics, stakeholders, and entrepreneurs.
From the 10th to the 11th of May 6th Annual Conference on the topic of "Sustainable Building and Living - together - just - design" took place in Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE), Eberswalde. It was organized by RENN.mitte (Regionale Netzstellen Nachhaltigkeitsstrategien (in English: Regional Network Centers Sustainability Strategies)). Members of the VEGERA project, Bonu Azizova and Dilfuza Yuldasheva took part in this event.
The project partners CIFOR-ICRAF the main office in New Dehli visited Uzbekistan from May 29th to June 4th, 2023, Uzbekistan. The hosting organization was the VEGERA project partner "TIIAME" NRU in Tashkent. This was a successful meeting of two project partners in person that took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Aziz Abdukhakimov visited HNEE with his delegation and together with representatives of BMUV and GIZ on June 23, 2023. There were introductory presentations by Prof. Pfriem and Prof. Welp on the HNEE and its history, relevant faculties, case studies of the ongoing projects in Central Asia. The Ministry presented its plans for the "Central Asian University for the Study of Environment and Climate Change" - Green University in Uzbekistan, which was newly founded on May 31, 2023.
Dilfuza Yuldasheva visited Uzbekistan where she met project partners “TIIAME” NRU and project-relevant stakeholders in September 2023. On the 15th of September, she met with the project partners from the “TIIAME” NRU and hosted lectures for two different departments at the university. The next days, she met different stakeholders, specifically, from the Tashkent University of Architecture and Construction and the entrepreneur who is working with eco-houses.
Bonu Azizova, a research associate from the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) and the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) made a notable impression at the CISBAT "The built environment in transition" (International Conference on Solar Energy in Buildings and Urban Planning) hosted at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) from September 13 to 15, 2023.
